If you're planning your perfect movie-going outfit for the upcoming release of Sex and the City 2, here's some inspiration for ya: The fashion-forward foursome from Sex and the City in a video "fashback" to their fave outfits from episodes gone by.
MTV sat down with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis to ask them which ensembles they liked best. How did the ladies' fashion favorites match up with our own most memorable sartorial moments from the show? Read on!
SAMANTHA
HER FAVE: Kim Cattrall, a.k.a. Samantha Jones, confessed to a fondness for her giant, floppy hat from the first movie, saying, "That was just glorious, that huge hat that I had." But she also got a kick out of her more, um, unorthodox (and less-clothed) moments on the show, citing the suspenders-only scene from the firemen episode as one of her favorites: "That whole episode was just so much fun to do."
OUR FAVE: A tough one, since some of Kim's most memorable scenes involved her wearing no clothes at all. But for sheer sass and confidence, we'll vote for her pink-wigged and be-feathered red carpet look from Season 6 — where despite a battle with cancer, her character always looked fabulous.
CHARLOTTE
HER FAVE: Kristin Davis went wide-eyed at the sheer volume of clothes to choose a favorite from — "Do you know how many thousands and thousands of outfits we have worn?" — but ultimately favorited her big, frou-frou Vera Wang dress from Charlotte's wedding to the waspy and highly unsuitable Trey. Part of the draw? The dress was completely opposite from Kristin's own, more subtle style. She says, "I would never choose such a thing in my life."
OUR FAVE: Charlotte's marriage to Trey was a disaster, but it clearly hit all the right notes for memorable moments in fashion — because our favorite Charlotte look has to be the ridiculous plaid ballgown made from Trey's family tartan that she sported in Season 4.
MIRANDA
HER FAVE: "I have no idea!" Cynthia Nixon couldn't remember a favorite outfit from her years spent playing the no-nonsense Miranda Hobbes...
OUR FAVE: ...and, uh, neither could we. (Too many suit separates!) But we're looking forward to seeing Miranda sporting some fun, flowing desert-chic styles in the upcoming movie. It'll be a nice change from her usual business wear.
CARRIE
HER FAVE: Fortunately, Sarah Jessica Parker's fashion faves did NOT involve oversized flower pins or outrageous hats; the princess of the SATC series loved her girly-but-sophisticated look from the series' final episode, saying, "I think the tutu in Paris, in that final montage of her and Big finally getting back together."
OUR FAVE: Hey, that was our favorite too! But if we've got to choose another, then you can't beat Carrie's confection of a wedding gown from the first movie — even though the wedding itself went south. At least she looked great!
What were your fashion favorites from SATC? Were there any specific styles that inspired your own wardrobe?
