Murder is coming back to the town of Woodsboro, but this time it's not going to be Neve Campbell's Sidney Prescott that the "Scream" killers are after. Emma Roberts has signed on to the role of Jill in the upcoming "Scream 4," and Entertainment Weekly reports that she will be the new installment's leading lady.
Filming begins in Ann Arbor, Mich. on June 28, and director Wes Craven is busy putting together the rest of the film's cast. We're expecting to see quite a few more young Hollywood stars come together for the franchise reboot, in addition to some familiar faces. Emma has proved she can pull off both leading roles ("Nancy Drew" was at least a detective story) as well as ensemble roles ("Valentine's Day" at least set up what we're sure Jill's love life will be like), but this will be her first time working in the horror genre.
"I'm so excited to be part of this ground-breaking franchise," Emma told EW. "It's the perfect opportunity for me to do something completely different than I've ever done before."
Wes is apparently just as thrilled to have her on board as Emma is. "Emma's talent, beauty, and range will add immensely to the sophistication, intensity, and fun of the 'Scream' franchise as it returns to the screen once more."
Are you excited to see Emma Roberts's screaming abilities in this new film? Is "Scream 4" something you are looking forward to seeing?
