It's been an interesting journey for the new star of "Footloose" ever since Chace Crawford dropped out last month. There's been tons of speculation and even a fan campaign (to get Tom Felton the lead role), but not much word from official sources.
Well today a new name enters the bunch, and we're not sure which side of the spectrum it falls on. The Los Angeles Times's 24 Frames blog reports that "A Nightmare on Elm Street" star Thomas Dekker might be the next Ren McCormack.
You'll know him best from his run as John Connor in "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and from a short stint on "Heroes" as Claire Bennet's BFF Zach, but Thomas is getting some serious recognition for his Cannes film "Kaboom." While he doesn't have any dance experience that we can see, he at least does have that cute-edging-on-creepy face that Kevin Bacon is so known for.
Ironically, this could be the film that sets Thomas off on the movie path if he does end up landing the leading role. Before Kevin Bacon got footloose, he only had some TV credits and supporting roles in "Animal House" and "Friday the 13th" (we'll consider this comparable to "A Nightmare on Elm Street") to go on. Now he's one of the most famous actors in Hollywood.
Do you think Thomas Dekker would be a good choice for Ren? Who else do you think would make a good leading man for "Footloose"?
