Maybe it was the extra-indie soundtracks for the three "Twilight Saga" installments that gave us the wrong idea, but somehow we had always figured that Kristen Stewart strayed away from the popular music scene. Not so, she tells MTV News' Josh Horowitz. Her iPod is filled with Gaga and Miley Cyrus ... on repeat.
"[I've] probably [been listening to] a little bit of both," Kristen admitted. "But I don't know, 'The Climb' is my theme song and I'm sticking to it."
In the books, Bella listened to a variety of music, varying from Linkin Park to Claire De Lune. It's sort of implied that Bella liked all the bands Stephenie Meyer loves, which includes Linkin Park, Muse and Blue October. We know that Kristen is also a fan of Kings of Leon, considering she and the rest of the cast were photographed at a show in Vancouver last year.
Kristen explained that she didn't have a specific soundtrack for "Eclipse" like she did for "New Moon," when she used music to get into a Bella mindset. But, because her alter ego is somewhat more whole in "Eclipse" with Edward's return, Kristen didn't find it as difficult to get into character.
"I always listen to music, but I had particular music that I listened to on 'New Moon,' but didn't really have to for 'Eclipse,' " she said. "I just listened to my normal music. Bella's less tortured. She's less conflicted. I mean ... it's the most she's conflicted about the love triangle [but] that happens sort of at the end."
She added, "The main conflict is the danger and the fact that she's losing her human life. That her family's gonna soon maybe go away. When I was doing 'New Moon,' I needed the music and I needed my iPod all the time and I needed to be in my own little head, but in 'Eclipse' it was more about the story was just different."
Were you surprised at Kristen's choice in music? What did you expect she listened to?
