In the words of Anna Paquin herself, vampires are “sexy, dangerous, and good-looking” and that’s why it was no surprise that in the HBO hit “True Blood” her character, Sookie, fell for the handsome vampire, Bill Compton, played by Stephen Moyer.
But the romance doesn’t stop there for these two as the co-stars got engaged last summer. The usually private actress opens up in about her personal life, including filming those infamous nude scenes, going blonde, and her relationship with Stephen, in July’s issue of Self Magazine.
Although the actress has starred in several motion pictures, fame has really hit the star since “True Blood” premiered in 2008. But in order to cope with the paparazzi frenzy, Anna explains, “I’ve had to stop caring what people I don’t know and will never meet think about me.” And it seems to be working for her because she took the same approach to the coming out of her bisexuality. “I understand why it’s a big deal to some people, but to me, it’s not,” adding, “I’m comfortable with who I am, and it’s not an issue.”

And since the leading woman of Bon Temps is at ease with who she is, it’s no wonder she found the nude scenes to be “less stressful.” “I’m quite comfortable with being naked,” she told Self . But don’t get us wrong, Anna still works hard at getting that great body of hers, juggling shooting scenes with swimming, running, boxing, taking Pilates and hitting the gym. Boy does she sound busy!

It’s all for the love of the show, which she says isn’t for kids because of “sucking and screwing all the time,” and the love for her character, Sookie. “She’s a tough, fit, kick-ass Southern girl who is equally as comfortable in a pretty floral print dress as she is beating the crap out of somebody. I love her as a role model of femininity." She also went blonde for the role, attesting, “it’s true that people stare at blonde girls more than quasi-famous brunettes.”
But if there’s one thing she’s not comfortable with, it’s mixing her job with her personal life, which is why she tried to keep her relationship with Stephen Moyer secret for 10 months. “You don’t want to bring personal stuff to work,” she confessed. But she quickly added, “it’s a luxury to get to go to work with the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, because I love my job and I’m really happy.”
What do you think of Anna's Self cover? Does it surprise you how open she is about her sexuality? Do you agree that Sookie is a good role model? Why or why not?
