Hollywood casting directors may have forgotten how to think outside the box. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rachel McAdams will take yet another stab at a woman-suffering-from-memory-loss role in the new film, “The Vow.” Consider Rachel for time-bending memory loss dramas what Amanda Seyfried is for movies about letters!
Speaking of letters, Rachel stars opposite none other than “Dear John” actor Channing Tatum. Channing has less experience than Rachel in the memory loss genre, yes, but will surely appreciate the opportunity to stretch his acting chops. While promoting “Dear John” earlier this year, Channing made it clear that he’s in this biz for the meaty roles!
“The Vow” follows New Mexico newlyweds Channing and Rachel, who survive a horrible car crash after their wedding. Rachel’s character ends up in a coma and is nursed back to health by her devoted husband. But when she finally wakes up, she has — of course — lost all memory of meeting and marrying him. Channing’s job becomes making her fall in love with him all over again.
Both Rachel and Channing will be in good company across the board, directed by Michael Sucsy of “Grey Gardens” fame. Michael is also set to direct 2011’s “The Goree Girls” with Jennifer Aniston. But what you would NEVER guess is who “The Vow” was being prepared for prior to Rachel stepping onboard… None other than Julia Roberts!
Rachel’s been busy with many projects recently. She begins shooting Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris” in July opposite Owen Wilson, Marion Cotillard and Michael Sheen. And if you really can’t wait until “The Vow” for more McAdams, check her out in November’s “Morning Glory.”
Do you think this is a good move for Rachel’s career, and can “The Vow” give her fans what “The Time Traveler’s Wife” did not?
