Let me guess: you weren’t satisfied by Smule’s “Glee” app for iPhone and iPad and now you’re looking for yet another phenomenon that fuses television and gaming? Well, you’re in luck! With the release of the upcoming “Karaoke Revolution:Glee,” Gleeks everywhere will find an entirely new outlet to recreate infamous scenes from the show while polishing their pipes.
If the marriage between “Karaoke Revolution” and “Glee” sounds appealing to you and you don’t have a Wii, now would be the time to get one! The game will be available exclusively for Nintendo Wii, so it’s probably not worth waiting for it to reach other consoles. Using multiplayer singing, “Karaoke Revolution Glee” will feature harmonizing options that could make it the most addictive karaoke game yet (or the most frustrating, depending on your vocal skills, right?).
Keep saving your money, because this will be the first of many efforts to establish “Glee” as a prominent brand in stores all around the world. Of the alliance between Konami and Fox, SVP (at Fox Products) Gary Rosenfeld explained in a release, “This partnership reflects our on-going strategy to develop “Glee” as a long-term brand at retail.” He also promised the game is what “Glee” fans “have been waiting for.”
Because the game is slated for a fall release, exact details regarding its special features are somewhat under wraps. What we do know is that gamers can choose to sing in harmonies or as a duet, and the themes of the television show will be very present in the game. All your favorite characters will be there to interact with as soon as you pick up the microphone. And unlike Smule’s app that made you buy songs, this game comes with 35 chart-topping hits!
“Karaoke Revolution Glee” also provides an added bonus for those who improve. In a special game play mode, gamers can unlock content featuring big moments from season 1.
What we can all learn from “Karaoke Revolution Glee” — besides how to really impress Sue Sylvester — is that “Glee” will be returning to stores again and again, in one form or another.
What do you think of the newest “Glee” gaming venture? Do you think “Karaoke Revolution Glee” sounds fun, and will you be willing to take it home this fall?
