Taylor Momsen On Her Unpopular Fashion Choices And Why She Fired Her Stylist

"Gossip Girl" actress Taylor Momsen might have her choice of couture gowns, but she much prefers leather jackets and lacy tops. Taylor recently opened up to the brand-new MTV Style blog about how she puts together her rockstar look and why she fired her stylist (yikes!).

"I like a lot of leather, I like a lot of dresses, I guess it's been known to be provocative," said Taylor, who has her own band, "Pretty Reckless."

Taylor (who is only 16 by the way!), said she doesn't go shopping often (although, she did admit to a weakness for Chanel). Instead, she mixes and matches the clothes she has, often wearing tees as dresses and vice-versa. Her taste hasn't always earned her a place on best-dressed lists, but that doesn't seem to bother her.

"I dress like I dress before people saw me, before I was in the tabloids," said Taylor, who is also the face of Madonna's (another fashion rebel!) new "Material Girl" campaign. Of course, she didn't always have that choice.

"I kind of had a freakout at some point because you know I was getting molded into this thing that wasn't who I am, and it was fitting into the world that will make you popular," Taylor said.

So, she made a bold move. She fired her stylist.

"I think firing my stylists has allowed me to be more free, and I now dress myself." Now, Taylor's style is a lot like her music — a real reflection of her.
