Setting aside the stylish fashion and the uber cute eye candy, the main reason we dig "Pretty Little Liars" so much is because of the mystery at the heart of the series: Who the heck is "A"? And why is he/she/it taunting high school girls every waking day? Obviously, part of the fun in watching is not knowing who this mysterious, all-knowing force is, but we always have a good laugh here at Hollywood Crush putting our guesses forward each week.
The same apparently goes for the four femme stars of the show (Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario and Shay Mitchell), who recently revealed to us who "A" actually is — er, well, make that who they want "A" to be! (After all, they claim they haven't even been told who it is yet ... we're not sure we believe that, but for the purposes of this exercise, we do.)
Here's the cast's best (and kind of hilarious) guesstimates of who "A" is:
ASHLEY MARIN
"People have been saying they think it's my mom on the show," Ashley said of Laura Leighton's character. "I was like WHY? That doesn't even make sense! But then they're like, 'She just seems so sneaky, and why would she sleep with a cop?' I'm like, 'I don't know!'"
ANYBODY BUT TOBY
"[Emily] would want it to be anybody but Toby," Shay insisted of Keegan Allen's alter ego. Then she threw out this tease: "If he's still alive, right?"
AN EXTRA
"I would want it to be someone who's just like a recurring extra in the background," Lucy laughed. Hey, it could happen, they do use many of the same extras in different scenes.
ONE OF THE FOUR GIRLS
"I think if it was one of us, one of the girls, that would be really amazing," Ashley asserted to which Lucy inserted an ominous, "ooooh ... It could be."
