Joe Jonas seemed surprised at VH1’s Do Something Awards in July, when he picked up the “Do Something Music Artist” award, but nothing has him shocked quite like his show’s Emmy nomination for Outstanding Children’s Program. Shared with his bros, of course.
“We are very super excited! We’ve never been up for an Emmy before,” Joe gushed to MTV News about the nod to “JONAS” “That’s never been on our radar, so something like that’s really exciting. We don’t know who will win.”
Joe and the Jonas clan have a dedicated audience to thank; ever since “JONAS” (now known as “JONAS L.A.”) kicked off its second season this summer, ratings have been good. Wait – did I forget to mention a recent episode that hauled in 4.2 million viewers? In case you’re keeping track, that’s highest ratings ever for “JONAS.”
“That’s really crazy that you can have that many people watch a cable show. We’re really blown away by it,” Kevin said. Explaining the high numbers, Nick added, “I think the continuous story line has been intriguing for people. It’s good to see that the hard work we put into making the show is paying off … and hopefully it’ll continue to do its thing.”
Many young people will find themselves conflicted come Emmy night, undoubtedly, when the JoBros face off against fellow Disney folk from “Hannah Montana” and “Wizards of Waverly Place,” as well as Nickelodeon competition from “iCarly.” But according to Joe, the rivalry is friendly.
“There’s a lot of Disney in there, so I think we’re gonna have some friendly competition going on there,” Joe marveled. “Me and [Wizards’ star] David Henrie, we’ve been talking to each other and kind of making fun of each other here and there about the Emmy thing. But whoever wins, it’ll be cool for us to be honored. … That is amazing in general.”
Who will you be rooting for when the Emmy is awarded on August 29?
