Regardless of whether or not you decided you like Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman's chemistry in "The Switch" (out today!), you'd better get used to it, because we're in for a lot more. The two of them are working together again in the ensemble flick "Horrible Bosses," and Jason told MTV News that he had a role destined for Jennifer in the long-awaited "Arrested Development" movies.
But three comedies? Really? We've decided that we think they ought to switch things up a bit and try out some different genres. Here are some other types of films we think they'd totally rock together in.
A Campy Horror Movie
Let's face it, there are a lot of people out there who are not the biggest fans of Jennifer (look at her recent films' box office receipts for proof). Well, why not spin that losing formula on its head and cast her in a movie (something like her feature debut of "Leprechaun") and have a whole movie watching her be tormented by some unknown monster. Jason could easily star as her husband, or (dun dun dun!) the killer!
A War Epic
War films seem to have been dying out in popularity as a genre with comic book flicks coming in to take their place (we'll get to those in a moment), but why not throw Jen and Jason completely out of their elements into a dramatic war epic? If they pull it off (a decent-sized "if"), then it might even earn them some Oscar buzz.
A Comic Book Film
No, we aren't suggesting that Jason be the next Superman or Jennifer be the next Phoenix, but our guess is that there's a lesser known indie comic out there that would perfectly fit the two of them. Jason is nerdy enough that he'd definitely be able to pull it off, and we think that if Jennifer doesn't completely screw up her performance, she could earn back some believers.
An Animated Flick
Jennifer is no stranger to voice-over animation (she did "The Iron Giant" back in 1999), while Jason dubbed the American version of "Arthur and the Invisibles" in 2006. Neither of them were particularly great movies (though "The Iron Giant" was definitely good), so we think they should dive right in to the good stuff and sign themselves on to whatever Pixar has cooking next.
Fun for the Whole Family
And no, we aren't talking about a movie where the dog dies at the end. Jason and Jen are definitely old enough to both play parents in a film, and Jason has a kid of his own, so why not make something that they can enjoy? Throw in some magical moments or cute cuddly animals (that, we repeat, don't die at the end) and they've got themselves a winner.
Do you think Jen and Jason should try out some new genres if they're going to keep making films together? Which of our suggestions would you prefer to see them star in?
