Channing Tatum has been stepping up his A-game in recent months, signing on to a whole slew of new projects, the latest of which he's pretty much designing from the inside out. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Channing's latest revolves around a 10-year high school reunion.
"Dear John" and "We Are Marshall" screenwriter Jamie Linden will be writing and directing the film, called "Ten Year," and Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen ("The Twilight Saga") will be producing. Channing is having Jamie write the script with certain big-name actors in mind, including someone very close to his heart.
A character is being written specifically for Channing's real-life wife, Jenna Dewan, which would be the first time the two have been on screen together since they met in "Step Up." We're hoping that they will get a chance to play husband and wife on screen as well!
Other actors being written to are Channing's friends Anna Faris and her husband Chris Pratt (fingers crossed they'll get to play an onscreen couple as well!), Chris Pine (a nice birthday present for him), and "Friday Night Light's" Scott Porter. Though no deals have been made with any of the actors other than Channing, we're hoping that the fact parts were written specifically for them will encourage them to make room in their schedules when shooting starts in November.
The film, if it wasn't already apparent, will be an ensemble drama about a group of friends reuniting a decade after their graduation, which sounds similar to ABC's upcoming mockumentary dramedy "My Generation." That series reunites a group of kids who were "being filmed for a documentary" in high school 10 years earlier, weighing in on how their lives have changed in the ensuing decade. Seems like the current generation of Hollywood is feeling mighty nostalgic for their younger years.
Are you looking forward to hopefully seeing Jenna and Channing reunite on screen? Do you think it's strange that high school reunion projects are suddenly popping up around Hollywood?
