We're just two short days away from the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards, and we can't wait much longer to see which of our favorites will walk away winners. This year there are so many contenders to love in both the comedic and dramatic categories, we had to give kudos to the actors and shows that kept us glued to our sets. Here are some of our faves, let us know if you agree!
The Outstanding Comedy Series category features three shows that always have a spot on Hollywood Crush's DVR: "The Office," "Modern Family" and, of course, "Glee"! We swooned over the arrival of Jim and Pam's baby on "The Office," and "Modern Family" had us holding our sides from laughing so hard (we're still using Phil's version of "WTF": "Why the face?"), but we have an extra special place in our hearts for "Glee." It's a bittersweet love song (quite literally) dedicated to all the outcasts in the world that's become nothing short of a pop-culture phenomenon.
The talented cast of "Glee" has also been recognized, including Chris Colfer, Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch (seriously, we'll be shocked if she doesn't walk away with Emmy gold for flawlessly delivering Sue Sylvester's killer one-liners), as has most of the cast of "Modern Family," except for, inexplicably Ed O'Neill and Rico Rodriguez (What can we say? Manny holds the key to our heart!)
Some of our other faves in the comedic categories include last year's Emmy host Neil Patrick Harris (he already snagged a trophy for his guest stint on "Glee," but a win for "How I Met Your Mother" would be legen--wait for it---dary!) and Steve Carell (what are we going to do when he leaves "The Office"?!)
Of course, some of our favorite dramas are up for Emmy's on Sunday night too. In the Outstanding Drama Series category there are four amazing shows that we love: "True Blood" (no love for the actors to be found this year, so maybe some of our favorite sexy vampires will go home with the glory here), "Dexter," "Mad Men," and the dearly departed "LOST."
We thought we were torn on which drama to root for...until we get to Outstanding Actor in a Dramatic Series category. There's a buffet of handsome and talent with nominees like Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"), Michael C. Hall ("Dexter"), Matthew Fox ("LOST") and Kyle Chandler who is finally getting his due for "Friday Night Lights."
Speaking of "Friday Night Lights", while the show itself and Zach Gilford were snubbed and Taylor Kitsch for that matter (Too bad there's no Emmy for Dreamiest.Actor.EVER.), Connie Britton snagged a well-deserved nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Dramatic Series. She tackled some pretty tough story lines this past season, but Connie, as always, did an outstanding job and continued to make Tami the guidance counselor we wish we all had in high school (sorry, Jayma Mays!)
While "Saturday Night Live" had a standout year (hello, Betty White!) we'll be cheering right along with Team Coco members to see if Conan O'Brien wins the Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series for his all-too-short run on "The Tonight Show."
In case that wasn't enough to celebrate, the ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon (is it too much to ask for a "Robert is Bothered" skit during the broadcast?) and George Clooney will be receiving an honorary Emmy for his humanitarian work.
Did your favorite shows and actors get nominated for Emmy's this year, too? Will you be tuning in for the broadcast? Let us know, Crushers!
