Nikita, played by a fierce Maggie Q, is mad and she's ready to get back at the agency, known as the Division, who made her an assassin against her will. She's gone rogue, and she's willing to take down everyone that gets in her way, including her former mentor in the agency, played by Shane West. If it sounds a bit darker than some of the other shows on the CW, you're right. And Maggie Q is just fine with that.
"It's based on the 1990 Luc Besson film. It sort of reads very similar to the film. It's really a revenge tale," she told MTV News about "Nikita," which premieres tonight at 9. "[Nikita] gets out and she wants the people that hurt her to pay. It’s a pretty dark series for this network."
The series airs the same night as the "Vampire Diaries," but despite the night's more somber tone, Maggie knows that "Nikita" is entirely different than anything else fans will see anytime soon. "I don't think it is going to fit in with the rest of their lineup, which I like. It's supposed to be something different and something they haven’t done before," she said. "So, we'll see if the network responds well to it… Hopefully we're challenging the mind with this one."
So, what is it like playing the sexy Nikita? "Challenging. Her past is very colored, so there's a lot of lot of layers there," she explained. "So, that leaves it open for the series to actually explore different areas of her."
Will you be watching "Nikita" tonight?
