With the start of the new TV season right around the corner (and some of our favorite shows, like "The Vampire Diaries," already on the air), we're tuning our channel to fall television all week long on Hollywood Crush! In our "TV to Talk About" feature, we'll highlight a new show each day that we're super-psyched to see. Weigh in and let us know what you think too!
TODAY WE'RE TALKING ABOUT... "Running Wilde"
PREMIERES: Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 9:30/8:30C on FOX
STARS: Will Arnett, Keri Russell, Stefania Owen
PREMISE: A sitcom about unrequited love follows Steve Wilde (Arnett), an extremely wealthy, immature playboy and son of an oil tycoon, who, despite his clueless, selfish behavior, tries to win over the heart of the one who got away, Emmy Kadubic (Russell). Turns out Emmy, a liberal humanitarian who is out trying to save the world, has been living in the Amazon rain forest with an indigenous tribe along with her daughter Puddle (Stefania Owen of "The Lovely Bones.") The show, which is told through the perspective of a 12-year-old girl, will follow the will-they-won't-they of a most unlikely pair.
WHY WE'RE EXCITED: Well, two names spring right to mind: Gob and Felicity! It's nothing short of a TV nerd's dream come true to have Arnett (or Mr. Amy Poehler, if you will) aka Gob Bluth of the dearly departed cult favorite "Arrested Development" and Russell, aka Felicity Porter of the beloved college drama called, yep, "Felicity." While both actors have been seen in movies and television since (Arnett, among other things, has stopped by his wife's sitcom "Parks and Recreation," while Russell won over everyone in the heartwarming flick "Waitress") we've yearned to see them on a weekly basis. Plus, it seems both stars are playing to their strengths. Arnett is a wealthy buffoon with too much power (he even throws himself a "Humanitarian of the Year" award ceremony. So very Gob Bluth.) Russell is a sweet, caring romantic interest (there's a reason why Ben and Noel loved her so!). It's a match made in television heaven.
Will you be tuning in to "Running Wilde"?
