With the start of the new TV season right around the corner (and some of our favorite shows, like "The Vampire Diaries," already on the air), we're tuning our channel to fall television all week long on Hollywood Crush! In our "TV to Talk About" feature, we'll highlight a new show each day that we're super-psyched to see. Weigh in and let us know what you think too!
TODAY WE'RE TALKING ABOUT... "My Generation"
PREMIERES: Thursday, Sept. 23 at 8/7 C on ABC
STARS: Mechad Brooks, Julian Morris, Daniella Alonso, Kelli Garner, Jaime King, Keir O'Donnell, Anne Son, Sebastian Sozzi, Michael Stahl-David
PREMISE: In 2000, a fictional documentary filmmaker followed nine students (the jock, the rich kid, the beauty queen...you get the idea) during their senior year at Greenbelt High School in Austin, TX. As you've probably learned from the series' ubiquitous ad campaign, "A lot can happen in 10 years," which is why the filmmaker reappears in his subjects' lives a decade later to find out what they're up to. Fledgling marriages, illegitimate children and wartime politics are all fodder for this reflection on Gen Y's eldest members.
WHY WE'RE EXCITED: Like many of the new series we've previewed this week, "My Generation" boasts a handful of cast members we've already fallen in love with during their stints on other shows. "True Blood" fans will surely recognized the fallen Eggs (Mechad), who now sports fatigues as soldier Rolly Marks. Then there's up-and-coming actor Julian, who we've swooned plenty over as Spencer's sister's ex-boyfriend Wren on "Pretty Little Liars." But I, personally, am interested in "My Generation" for purely self-indulgent reasons (how very Gen Y of me, indeed!). At the risk of aging myself, I too am a proud member of the Class of 2000, and in fact, will be headed home for my 10-year reunion (eek!) in two weeks. Who wouldn't be intrigued by a television show that basically reflects her own life? My peer group has been pretty lucky with its navel-gazing television ("Dawson's Creek"), so we can only hope "My Generation" will be a welcomed addition to the canon.
Will you be tuning in to "My Generation"?
