With "Undercovers" premiering this Wednesday on NBC and a million other T.V. projects on his docket, it might be tempting to forget that J.J. Abrams is quite the force to be reckoned with on the big screen too (remember a little film called "Star Trek"?). But we haven't forgotten thanks, in part, to that sneaky little teaser trailer he released over the summer for his upcoming Stephen Spielberg collaboration, "Super 8."
Though there's more information out about what we don't know about the project than what we do, New York magazine's Vulture blog got the exclusive over the weekend that Elle Fanning (Dakota's younger sister) and "Friday Night Lights'" Kyle Chandler have landed roles in the flick.
Instead of spilling the deets on Elle and Kyle's characters, Vulture simply stated, "Don't get greedy!" Since there's so little information out about the film, we don't want to draw conclusions and get them completely wrong. However, Elle's casting seems to coincide with an Internet casting call rumor that Bloody Disgusting posted in May for a character named "Natalie."
It read, "NATALIE: Female 13-14. A natural beauty—she is stunning, but not the "cheerleader" type. Strong and confident, but has an underlying sadness. Should have a Midwestern feel." Hmm, sounds like Elle to us.
There were also casting calls for two male characters named "Josh" and "Collin" who are about the same age. This goes along with the rumor that "Super 8" is about three siblings who capture footage of aliens on their Super 8 camcorder—kind of a first-person camera film for the 1970s. But with Elle's casting seemingly figured out, there's still the big question of who Kyle will be playing. Who knows, maybe he's the alien!
Are you excited to see Kyle and Elle get cast in such a big role? Is "Super 8" a film you're looking forward to?
