Only one more day until a brand new "Vampire Diaries" episode! We've been doing our best to keep you Damon fans satisfied with as much insider info as possible from series star Ian Somerhalder—our personal favorite was his response to the reader-submitted question about doing a musical episode, but you guys provided some great thoughts and analysis to the Damon-Elena will-they-or-won't-they hook-up dilemma as well, so maybe it's a toss-up for Best Somerhalder Scoop so far.
Anyway! In addition to those aforementioned juicy tidbits, we wanted the dirt on season two's villainess, Katherine. Specifically, how long will her reign of terror last in Mystic Falls, and who might bring an end to it?
"Oh I don’t see that happening anytime soon," Ian said of Katherine's possible (eventual?) demise. "She’s wreaking havoc, man. She's the cornerstone for that havoc. She's the Damon of last year, so I don't see her going anywhere. She's a major catalyst for a lot," he explained.
"Before, when Damon came to town there was a cause and an effect, and anything he did there was a ripple effect throughout the entire town basically, and now that's all on Katherine. It's a dangerous proposition. It really is."
So what's her problem? Why is she so hell-bent on wreaking said havoc?
"She's out of her mind," Ian said. "And you know what, she's doing whatever she's doing out of whatever reason. I don't even know. It could be for love, it could be for survival, it could be vengeance. I actually don't know. When we do find that out, I'm very much look forward to that."
Hmmm... very interesting. We love it when even the actors don't know (or very convincingly pretend not to know) what's going on with their shows.
What say you, Crushers? What's up with Katherine? And did Ian's anointing Kat "the Damon of last season" make you chuckle as much as we did?
