"Jones dates head cheerleaders, not girls who have only been to the dentist twice."

Lux's dental hygiene history—and the place it puts her in the high school dating pool—may have been the most interesting thing to come out of "Life Unexpected" last night. Our favorite orphan and the perpetually life-challenged adults she bounces between are beginning to cross the line from entertaining to just plain frustrating.

Cate and Baze's lives continue to travel along the same convenient trajectory. Both unemployed and on the job hunt, they each struggled with career opportunities: Cate realized her life in radio without Ryan was a bleak one consisting of the 2 to 6 a.m. timeslot, and Baze can't manage to score a job at the financial firm his father owns. Bazes' attempts to work at Fenmore Financial were particularly ridiculous. He goes to the interview in jeans, talks on the phone about the girl he slept with (who has that good of cell reception in an elevator, btw?), and he eagerly displays how little he knows about the firm or its clients. When he tried for the job a third time (now in a suit, at least) and spouted off that he would recommend “value investing” (is there anyone that would recommend an investment that doesn't have value?), I realized I was wishing he had died in the fire. Or almost died maybe… He is pretty cute.

With a name like Chord Overstreet, it seems like this "Glee" newbie was destined for a musical show like the hit FOX series. And, after the show's season two premiere, it looks like we haven't seen the last of the blond cutie. So, as we prep for what is certain to be one fun ride of a season, we want to give it up to Chord and name him this week's Hump Day Hottie.

Press play on the video below to see more of Chord, and then keep reading for more details about him!

Vital Stats: The Nashville native, 21, is not only an actor with one cool, strange name but is also a musician. How do we know? The internet tells us, and he likes to pose with guitars, so if that isn't proof we don't know what is. Also, he's pals with Demi Lovato. We're sold!

Last we heard of "Violet and Daisy"—a film described as a combination of "Thelma and Louise," "Superbad" and "Pulp Fiction"—Carey Mulligan and Saoirse Ronan were set to headline the femme fatale flick. Well, it seems like Carey got lost in translation over the past five months, because now Variety is reporting that Alexis Bledel will be starring opposite Saoirse, with no mention of Carey at all.

The film definitely has its own legs to stand on, considering it costars James Gandolfini and is written by "Precious" screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher, but we're a bit disappointed to hear that Carey is no longer involved in the project. She wasn't nominated for an Oscar for nothin'!

What's better than one of our favorite artists rocking a stellar new song? How about TWO of our favorite artists rocking a stellar new song? For her just-released album A Year Without Rain, Selena Gomez went to great lengths to get Katy Perry's song "Rock God" on her latest EP.

"Katy Perry gave me a song called 'Rock God.' It's one of my favorite songs ever," Selena told MTV News of the tune, which also features Katy's backup vocals. "I actually had to fight for that song. I wanted it so bad. It's kind of funky, and I think I used her style and we kind of mixed it up with the producers that I worked with with my style, so we made it a little bit more techno."

GleeIt's been a loooong, "Glee"-less summer, but we've finally arrived at a new season of songs, squabbles and Sue Sylvester! In the season two premiere, titled "Audition," we find friends becoming enemies and old foes forming alliances. Plus, there's plenty of fresh meat who must quickly form their own alliances.

The episode kicked off documentary-style with the always too-inquisitive Jacob asking New Directions members what they've been up to all summer. There was the obvious news (Finn and Rachel are madly in love), some over sharing (Puck had a vasectomy), an "Oh no!" revelation (Tina and Mike are dating, leaving our Artie all alone) and, well, Brittany (she spent her summer lost in the sewers.) You've got to hand it to Jacob for doling out some Sue Sylvester-like jabs and commentary (we thought we were the only ones hoping that Mr. Schue would stop rapping!)

As "Twilight Saga" vampire Jasper Hale, Jackson Rathbone is used to chomping on creatures' carotids, but being on the receiving end of a little neck nibbling is something new for the star. Especially when it involves a two-time Oscar winner.

When MTV News' Josh Horowitz caught up with Jackson at the Toronto International Film Festival, where the actor was promoting his upcoming drama "Girlfriend," talk inevitably turned to the status of "Breaking Dawn" (more on that in the coming days). Then suddenly, as if on cue, actress Hilary Swank, who was waiting in the wings for her own interview, swooped into the frame, baring her canines as she lunged for Jackson's neck! Okay, so it was just a playful bite, but it still caught the usually poised actor completely off guard!

In case you couldn't tell, we're pretty excited about tonight's season two premiere of "Glee". But that excitement was all over the Twitterverse today too, especially from the show's stars. Kevin McHale teased us with, "we're baaaacccck! Glee is on TONIGHT!" while guest star John Stamos promised, "it's a really good episode" (he even tweeted a pic, boasting, "my first trip to juvie hall!...http://twitpic.com/2qlomp.) Of course, even premiere day doesn't slow down the cast of "Glee" as Lea Michele reported, "Just woke up and SO excited for glee tonight!!!! Now off to work for more Rocky Horror fun!!"

As gleeks celebrate the return of their favorite show, Nicole Richie (pictured) is celebrating her 29th birthday! The reality-star-turned-fashionable-celebrity-mom had plenty of birthday wishes coming her way on Twitter from famous faces like Kim Kardashian who posted, "Happy Birthday @NicoleRichie LOVE YOU!" and Eva Longoria Parker who wrote, "Happy birthday to my friend @NicoleRichie !" The birthday girl was certainly grateful, tweeting to friends, family, and followers, "Wow I am feeling the love today! Thank you for all your birthday wishes! Here's to more wrinkles!!"

Selena fans! Today is the day! No, Selena Gomez is not finally accepting a date with "Jersey Shore"'s Vinny. No, the 18-year-old's brand new album, A Year Without Rain, drops today, and when we caught up recently with the singer, she dished all the deets on her sophomore recording.

"[I named the album after my single] because it's the name of the first song I recorded to put on the record. I feel like that song has a lot of meaning, and it also kind of was the start of what I wanted to base all the other songs around," she told MTV News. "I mean, even down from putting the track listing and numbering it, I wanted to make sure I envisioned [fans] putting it in their car or putting it on their iPod and how I wanted them to listen to the record."

The first day at a new school is always full of daunting challenges. Will I be able to find my classes? Who will I sit next to in the cafeteria? What flavor slushie will be thrown in my face (orange, we hope!)? If you're a fan of FOX's fantastic "Glee," you know the students of McKinley High (however fictional it may be) aren't immune to such concerns. Especially the entering freshmen. We caught up with a slew of the series' new stars at the "Glee" red carpet premiere, and they spilled about what's to come for their characters and the intense (sorta) initiation process.

"I'm raw meat, fresh," newbie Chord Overstreet, who plays footballer (and maybe boyfriend to Kurt) Sam, joked of the on-set "hazing" rituals."There's candles involved, a bunch of, like, Satanic rituals. Just some hazing, some general hazing. Little pranks here and there, nothing big, but I mean everybody was really welcoming when I came in."

Our congratulations go out to "Eclipse" star Jodelle Ferland, who is the latest "Twilight Saga" star to land herself a nice meaty role in a non-"Twilight" film. Jodelle, however, is sticking pretty close to her horror roots (she was also in "Silent Hill") in the upcoming flick "The Tall Man," which casts her alongside Jessica Biel. Bloody Disgusting is calling the movie a "suspenseful thriller in the vein of the early films of M. Night Shyamalan."

Her newest role got us thinking about all the other upcoming projects our other favorite "Twilight" stars have lined up, and we were hard pressed to choose which one we are most excited for. After all, the films range from such exciting fare as "On The Road" to "Live With It" to "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1"! So that's why we're letting you do the choosing for us. Cast your vote after the jump for which movie starring a "Twilight" actor you're most excited to see.
