If you've been dying to hear the sordid truth about Taylor Swift's hopes, dreams, heartbreaks and excruciatingly awful ex-boyfriends, you won't find it in any gossip magazine—instead, you should set your sights on a copy of her upcoming album. Taylor, who looks sultry and elegant on the cover of November's Glamour told the magazine that while she's circumspect about her personal biz in interviews, the gloves come off when it's time to write songs.
"Everything that happens to me gets put into a song," she says. "For some reason, I’m really comfortable talking about my personal life in songs. There, I don’t hold back: names, dates, times, expressions on people’s faces, exactly where we were and how it felt, what I wish I would have said to them in the moment."
She adds, "My next album is something I’m really proud of. I can only write about what I’ve been through. And a lot has happened in the past two years."
Too true: The content of her upcoming album, Speak Now, should ring some bells for anyone who's followed the country star's exploits over the past couple years—from gaining widespread fame, to a record-setting spot for Fearless on the Billboard chart, to that whole Kanye thing (which gets its nod in "Innocent," the song she debuted at this year's VMAs.)
But even though she's older and wiser in 2010, Taylor is still a romantic at heart. When asked about her outlook on love, she confesses: "I’ve learned that you can't predict it or plan for it. For someone like me who is obsessed with organization and planning, I love the idea that love is the one exception to that. Love is the one wild card."
And it's also been the inspiration for many of her greatest hits—a fact that's no news to former beaus who've dated the country star despite knowing that they may end up getting called out for bad behavior in an exceptionally public way. But Taylor is quick to point out that she only writes revenge songs for the truly deserving...and to assure us that "Twilight" hottie Taylor Lautner, who she dated last year, has nothing to worry about. Even though their romance didn't make it, she happily describes him as "one of my best friends. He’s wonderful, and we’ll always be close. I’m so thankful for that.”
So, gossip hounds, take note: If there's a song on the upcoming album called "D-Bag McGee," it's probably about Joe Jonas.
