We wouldn't blame you if you mistook Saturday's 2010 Scream Awards for a meeting of the American Vampire League. I mean, the bloodsuckers were everywhere at the ceremony. From "Twilight," and "The Vampire Diaries" to "True Blood," stars showed up in force to celebrate all things ooky and spooky. Fittingly, the red carpet was flooded with lots of dark blacks and grays, with one-shouldered dresses on the likes of Kristen Stewart and Nina Dobrev, making a serious showing. Of course, not everyone pulled off the latest trends in style. Check out our recap of the evening's best and worst dressed!
We have to admit, we've had quite a love-hate relationship with KStew's closet over the past year, but when we saw her hit the Scream Awards in this short, black-and-gray GUiSHEM Spring 2011 dress, we were instant fans. We loved the one-shoulder look, as well as the surprisingly revealing back. Our only gripe? The hair! We liked it loose, but a little frizz control never hurts. "Twilight" costar Nikki Reed also donned a one-shoulder frock, but hers failed to inspire. Nikki's LBD was unoriginal and ill-fitting (the waist-line for the skirt needed to be lower). Unfortunately, costar Jackson Rathbone didn't fare much better with his attire. Jackson wore an odd mix of items, including a black leather jacket with silver jewelery and ash-brown (or are they gray?) trousers with brown shoes. Hard to wrap your head around, right? Next time Jackson, we suggest sticking to one style from head-to-toe.
One thing we learned from the Scream Awards? If the "Twilight" cast ever had a fashion face-off with the gang from "Vampire Diaries," the latter would definitely win (sorry Twi-hards!). Seriously, the "VD" kids have some serious style, starting, of course, with Nina. Nina arrived at the show in a black Rock & Republic matte jersey V-Neck dress that was chic without being over the top (although, next time we'd love to see her add a pop of color!). Nina was flanked by none other than Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder, who both looked smoldering hot. Paul arrived in a very fall-ready look, wearing dark jeans, a black jacket and a gray T-shirt and striped scarf. Ian also wore dark jeans, but kicked things up a notch with a gray blazer.
With "Twilight" and "Vampire Diaries" covered, we couldn't forget the last piece of the vampire puzzle, a.k.a "True Blood." Star Anna Paquin arrived on the red carpet in a short, black Alexander McQueen dress. We thought Anna, who looked super elegant, totally outshined her husband Stephen Moyer, who was way too casual in a gray shirt and loose-fitting leather jacket. (Also, was it just us, or did he kind of look like costar Ryan Kwanten with his hair like that?)
Of course, it wasn't just vamps on the red carpet Saturday night. "Scream 4" star Emma Roberts was also in attendance, as well as "Gossip Girl"'s Blake Lively. Emma continued the one-shoulder black dress trend, and while we preferred her look to Nikki's, we didn't love the lacy fringe hanging from her right arm. One of our night's biggest fashion disappoints, though, was Blake Lively, who wore a long, gray Lanvin gown. We thought Blake's look had tons of potential, especially since we loved the sleek bottom-half, but the top really ruined it for us. We simply weren't fans of the huge broach and wish the fabric on the top was the same as the bottom. Side-note: The dress looks a lot better from the back.
