Why yes, that is the delicious Chris Pine on the cover of this month's Details magazine. And yes, he is wearing a pair of buttery, buttock-hugging, Versace leather pants. (And no, we haven't the faintest idea why our copy of the mag is covered in ladydrool. Nope. Not a clue.)
Chris, who was one of last year's biggest breakout actors thanks to his energetic portrayal of Captain Kirk in "Star Trek," sat down with Details for an interview about what's next in his career. It's clear right away that he takes his work seriously; not content to just ride the action-hero wave, he kept busy this summer with a back-breaking stage role in the darkly funny play "The Lieutenant of Inishmore."
That's "back-breaking" in the literal sense, by the way. Pine has a litany of injuries suffered while playing the physically demanding role, telling the interviewer, "My body's all sorts of f--ked-up. I tore my groin, I pulled my neck and my glute, tweaked my rhomboid, sprained my f--king sacrum."
Yowch. And it doesn't end there—between the hard work of stage acting and promoting the release of the upcoming "Unstoppable" (also starring Denzel Washington), Pine has been suffering from the existential blues.
He says, "I feel prematurely old. I'm actually having this major belated quarter-life crisis. I'm turning 30 in a couple of weeks. I've been thinking a lot about mortality. A lot about what I’m going to do with my life and how to enjoy it. One of the things I'm going to work on is being more spontaneous, letting go, embracing the beauty of come-what-may."

If that sounds like shrink-speak, don't be alarmed; one of the most interesting revelations from Chris' interview is that he's a hardcore believer in the benefits of cognitive therapy. Yes, that's right: a dashingly handsome dude, with chiseled biceps and pretty hair, who's in touch with his feelings and not afraid to talk about them. This man actually exists. And according to Chris, talking it out is a good way to keep himself from getting too trapped inside his own head—always a risk for actors.
"I'm more cerebral than I want to be," he explains. "Sometimes I think I need to get crazy. Go to Vegas. Do some drugs. Get some hookers. Gamble it all away. And it never happens. I usually just end up at home on my couch—reading."
... Okay, wait a second. A dashingly handsome, chiseled, emotionally sensitive guy who also likes to read? It's official: Chris Pine is the Most Desirable Man In The World! Which is why it's so disappointing that, at least for now, he's totally uninterested in settling down.

"I’m single and very happy about it," Chris says. "It’s a good time to be single. I have a lot of friends getting married right now, having babies. But I think I’ll be more like…the George Clooney."
Booooo. But okay, Chris—if that's the way you want to be, then fine. How about this: You stay single, we get at least ten more photos of you wearing those leather pants. Okay? Okay.
Would you like Chris Pine to lie down on your couch and talk about his feelings?
