Nikki Reed and Hayden Panettiere must have gotten a taste for the dark side after their latest scary movies—because even before the next installments of the "Twilight" and "Scream" sagas hit theaters, both actresses have signed on for roles in yet another dark-and-deathly teen thriller.
According to Variety, Hayden and Nikki will head to Louisiana this spring to film "Downers Grove," a movie adaptation of Michael Hornberg's suspenseful novel about a suburban high school where students suffer from a different kind of senioritis. What do we mean? Well, let's just say that one person from each year's senior class doesn't stand up at graduation.
Because, y'know, they're lying down.
Because they're DEAD.
(There, wasn't that subtle?)
The novel boasts two female main characters—one who grows increasingly paranoid that she'll be the next to succumb to the school's bizarre curse, and one who's too busy making out with the resident hot boys to notice—so while there's no word yet on which roles the two stars will play, they both should get plenty of screen time. Plus, unlike the usual cheesy teen-scream fare, we can expect some good things from the movie's script; the story was adapted for screen by the excellent Brett Easton Ellis, who penned the original "American Psycho" and knows a thing or two about tension, terror, and of course, creatively killing people off with a chainsaw. Good times.
Are you excited to see Hayden and Nikki in another thriller?
