Vampire romance? Dude, that's soooo 2009. If you want to get trendy, you'd be talking to us about vampire snuff films—because when it comes to keeping up with our fang-related trends, crushing on the Cullens is out and the next big thing is a kick-ass, vamp-killing heroine with a bag full of stakes! That's per the latest news from Warner Bros, which just announced that they've got a feature-length reboot of 1990s favorite "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" in the works.
It was about time for Buffy to get another big-screen moment—especially since in previous versions, her on-screen exploits were slightly sullied by the limits of low-budget special effects. So while nobody will ever replace Buffy originators Sarah Michelle Gellar or Kristy Swanson in our collective hearts, we'll be excited to see the actual slaying brought up to CGI speed.
There's no word from the studio on the who, how or when of the new Buffy, which is still in the script-writing stage. But a representative confirmed that while we can expect plenty of saucy, sexy smarts from the heroine, this movie's vampire slayer is "not your high school Buffy."
We assume this is code for "Expect vampire sex." But that's okay! ...Just as long as she's still blond. Some classic elements ought not to be messed with.
Could the reboot be your new favorite Buffy?
