Does it come as any surprise that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were named the two stars MTV is most thankful for in 2010? If you've been keeping up-to-date on this past year's hit movies, it shouldn't be too much of a shock. Emma Stone stole our hearts and proved she is leading lady material in the hilarious teen comedy "Easy A," and Andrew Garfield made us swoon again and again thanks to "Never Let Me Go" and "The Social Network." Oh, and did we mention they both were offered the roles of a lifetime in Sony's "Spider-Man" reboot?
Emma and Andrew were thrilled and humbled by the grand honor of landing leading spots on MTV's Thankful list. I mean, this is the kind of recognition that ranks up there with Academy Awards, people. Emma prepared a 10-minute speech that we had to cut due to time, and Andrew said he wanted to "first and foremost, thank [MTV] for inflating my ego. I really only want to thank you," but then the two of them got down to the nitty-gritties of just how great this year has been for them.
"It feels kind of scary saying this because that means it's only downhill, but it's been the best year of my life. Not just with how lucky I've been work-wise, but with my family and friends," Emma said about 2010. "I'm totally terrified for 2011. I have such a disaster mentality, it's not even funny."
We're doubting she's ever going to get a chance to work with as many pretty men in one year as she did in 2010, at least. After all, Penn Badgley, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling and Andrew Garfield are pretty much our bucket list of actors we want to marry (at least once) in our lifetimes. Andrew was also feeling the thrill of having such an amazing 2010.
"I feel incredibly lucky that I've had the good fortune to work with people and on projects I care about," he said. "And moving on to the next job I'm going to be shooting, being given that responsibility, I see it as a real gift. It's a character—I'm talking about the Spider-person—I've known for my whole life. He's been a presence in my upbringing and a very symbolic figure and force of manhood and bravery and a moral compass. All of those things that have shaped me as a person, he's been very much involved in."
