Despite swirling cancellation rumors, "Life Unexpected" upped the ante last night. New characters were introduced ("Degrassi" alum Landon Liboiron, a.k.a Emma's son Sam), new storylines developed and there was lots and lots of intense drama.

So when Ryan and Cate’s therapist suggested they "take some time apart," neither spouse mentioned the fact that they not only lived together, but they work together—I guess the eight hours a night they sleep apart will have to be the time spent healing their relationship while they bicker and stare daggers at each other the rest of the day. Somehow this technique works though, at the end of the day, a very ragged-looking Ryan and unnervingly fresh-faced Cate decide to give their marriage another, another shot.

Cate and Ryan's decision was the only good news (if you are into them as couple) to come out of the episode. Poor Lux. Even reunited with her biological parents and best friend, this orphan just can’t catch a break. Still "dating" her teacher, Eric bribes her to get an MRI to look deeper into the cause of her learning disability by offering to set up their own private homecoming at Tasha’s pad, complete with spiked punch. (I’m sure serving alcohol to a minor will be a blip on the arrest warrant issued when E is undoubtedly caught sleeping with his 16-year-old student.)

Is there anything more satisfying than Emma Watson trying to say, "Can I have an order of mozzarella sticks, please?" in an American accent? As we've just learned thanks to the latest video in MTV's After Hours series, the answer is a resounding "no." There are no knife attacks, British comedians trying to find excuses to kiss MTV's Josh Horowitz or awkward cuddle sessions, but still this might be our favorite After Hours installment yet.

Welcome to "American Talk with Josh Horowitz," the only talk show devoted to teaching "strange foreigners" how to speak "the right way, the American way," also known as "the freedom language." Josh sat down with Dan Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton to try to teach them to say such American things as "the Olive Garden," "Charlie Sheen" and "boo-yah." Let the hilarity ensue.

Congratulations, People magazine, on catching on to what every red-blooded Crush reader already knew: Ryan Reynolds is one delicious hunk of man meat.

The actor, whose chiseled handsomeness and hot bod earned him the title role in the upcoming "Green Lantern" (and have also been making our hearts go pitter-pat since he spent five seconds onscreen in an "X-Files" episode back in 1996), has been officially bestowed with the magazine's annually-awarded title of Sexiest Man Alive. He's the 25th hottie to make the list (which debuted by honoring Mel Gibson back in 1985...and the less said about that, the better.)

Last time we checked, "Red Riding Hood" was just another kiddie story—a fairly innocuous tale about a little girl, an ill-fated picnic delivery and a vaguely gender-confused wolf who, when he's not biting people's limbs off or swallowing them whole, thinks he looks awfully pretty in a flowered nightie. Not exactly feature-length film material! But Catherine Hardwicke's movie version of the classic fairy tale, which debuted its teaser trailer yesterday, seems to... differ from our childhood recollection.

Which is to say, Little Red isn't so little in this one.
And also, she and some dude are totally doing it.

Amanda Seyfried plays the title role with the usual wide-eyed wonderment, all while wearing the requisite red cape—which is so ridiculously long in some scenes that it trails several yards behind her like the world's sauciest bridal train.

GleeAccept no substitutes, Gleeks. Last night’s episode was one of the best (if not, the very best) of the season so far. It had everything that makes "Glee" great: surprising musical numbers, with the right balance of humor and life lessons. Not to mention the fact that "The Substitute" had one of the most anticipated guest stars of the series, Gwyneth Paltrow, who passed with flying colors.

So what brought the Oscar-winning actress to the halls of McKinley High? After the dreaded (monkey) flu sweeps through the school, it renders Mr. Schuester ill (but not before giving us THE MOST ADORABLE HALLUCINATION EVER when he imagined tiny tot versions of his students), and a substitute is called in. Cue: Holly Holliday (played by Ms. Paltrow), a free-spirited, if not flaky sub who shakes things up with New Directions.

Holly lives by a philosophy of doing what you like, when you like and encourages her students to do the same. Not only does she have a sharp tongue (when Santana burned her with, "You’re, like, 40" she immediately fired back, "Top 40, sweet cheeks") but an impressive voice as well. Gwynnie has done her fair share of singing before, but she definitely held her own in the glee club’s clean rendition of Cee Lo Green’s "Forget You," as well as her "Chicago" duet with Rachel. In short, I’m glad this isn’t a one episode guest stint.

We were all over the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" premiere last night, but it wasn't the only flick to roll out the red carpet. Christina Aguilera and Cher's upcoming movie musical "Burlesque" had its world premiere in Los Angeles on Monday evening, and those who attended seemed to love the film's glitz and glamor. Kristin Cavallari raved, "Burlesque was very entertaining. Christina is amaaaazing!!! And the makeup is insane....now I wanna dance." Khloe Kardashian tweeted after the screening, "OMG!!! Wow!! I can't say one bad thing about Burlesque! That was amazing! Congrats to all the amazing dancers, actors, singers!"

But it wasn't just the tunes from "Burlesque" that had the stars singing today. The Beatles are officially available for download on iTunes, and Hollywood charged up their iPads for the historic day. Actress Alyssa Milano tweeted, "SO AMAZING! The Beatles. Now on iTunes➛ http://bit.ly/8XB8hx" as singer Michelle Branch informed, "I just bought The Beatles box set on iTunes (even though I basically have everything anyway) Now I know what I'll be listening to all day :)" Meanwhile, the Dixie Chicks took a cue from the cast of "Glee" and asked followers, "The Beatles have joined #iTunes. If you were creating a Dixie Chicks/Beatles mash-up, which 2 songs would you mash together?"

Check out the rest of today's best celebrity tweets, including a "Glee" plea to have Daniel Radcliffe on the show, while 3OH!3 makes a visit to the set of "Hellcats"! Follow us @hollywoodcrush to get even more celebrity and pop culture news around the clock!

Ever since Justin Bieber got a kiss on the cheek from Rihanna it seems like their paths have been crossing. This time, those paths crossed on Twitter.

After knowing how crazy Bieber fans can get when he chats up famous ladies on Twitter (who could forget the Kim Kardashian death threats), Rihanna sent a cheeky message to the teen star. She wrote, "Justin Bieber just flashed me his abs in the middle of a restaurant! Wow! He actually had a lil 6 pack! Sexy, lol!," with the funny hash tag, "#Beliebersplzdontkillme."

The Biebs responded and reassured the Loud singer that he's got her back and that his fans wouldn't be of any threat to her. He responded, "@rihanna never that. Its always love" and then posted a picture of the two hanging out in the restaurant where they had the run-in. In it, the two stand next to one another, Justin in a fedora and a long-haired Rihanna in glasses and a black tank top.

FROM MOVIES BLOG: After much speculation, the role of Daisy Buchanan in the upcoming adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" has finally been cast, and it could not have gone to a more perfect actress. Deadline spoke with director Baz Luhrmann, who confirmed to them that he had tapped British starlet Carey Mulligan to play the pivotal love interest in the film.

"I was privileged to explore the character with some of the world's most talented actresses, each one bringing their own particular interpretation, all of which were legitimate and exciting," Baz said. "However, specific to this particular production of 'The Great Gatsby,' I was thrilled to pick up the phone an hour ago to the young Oscar-nominated British actress Carey Mulligan and say to her: "Hello, Daisy Buchanan."

For more on Carey Mulligan's "Great Gatsby" casting, continue reading at MTV's Movies Blog.
