The last night of 2011 is gearing up to be quite the party, as the ensemble rom-com "New Year's Eve" is eying a few more big names. The latest actors in talks to join the cast: Jessica Biel, who was last seen kicking butt in the movie version of "The A-Team" and who also appeared in precursor film "Valentine's Day," and Sofia Vergara, who's best known for her role on ABC's "Modern Family."
There's no word on Sofia's role, but The Hollywood Reporter got the dish on Jessica's: She's reportedly in talks to play a pregnant woman who, on New Year's Eve, is racing against other expectant mothers to birth the hospital's first baby of 2012 and win a cash prize. (Um. Competitive childbirth? Do people actually do this?) That makes two medical plotlines for the movie, after the earlier announcement that Robert DeNiro was negotiating for a role as a bitter old man who's celebrating his last New Year's Eve in a hospital bed. We'll start taking bets now on whether he and Jessica will run into each other during their respective ordeals.
If Jessica and Sofia do sign on to "New Year's Eve", they'll be in good (and even Oscar-winning!) company. In addition to Robert DeNiro, Ashton Kutcher, Michelle Pfeiffer and Hilary Swank are also in talks for lead roles. Actresses Lea Michele and Abigail Breslin have already finalized their deals. And it's not over yet—director Garry Marshall's previous movie, "Valentines Day," had almost 20 major celebs on board, and we're expecting just as many on this project. Who else will get invited to Hollywood's biggest New Year's Eve party? We'll keep you posted!
