Golden Globe Nominations We Love: 'Glee'! Emma Stone! 'Social Network'! Ryan Gosling! 'Black Swan'!

Posted 12/14/10 11:44 am EST by Aly Semigran in Movie News, TV News

Movie and television fanatics woke up bright and early (yes, that involves all of us here at Hollywood Crush!) this morning to hear who, and what, earned nominations for the 2011 Golden Globes. Luckily, the ceremony (which is often a barometer for who will step up to the podium for the Academy Awards) will be chock-full of HC favorites this year!

We're giving a big old "like" to the Hollywood Foreign Press for recognizing "The Social Network" as one of the best movies of the year (it's up for Best Motion Picture-Drama) and its deserving stars Jesse Eisenberg (Best Actor in a Motion Picture-Drama) and hot newcomer Andrew Garfield (Best Performance By An Actor In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture.) Okay, it may have been wishful thinking to hope their co-stars Justin Timberlake and Armie Hammer (who should have doubled his chances playing the Winklevoss twins) would score noms too, but awards season has only just begun!

One of the "The Social Network"'s biggest competitors is also one of Crush's favorite flicks of 2010, the scary and seductive ballet drama "Black Swan" (also up for Best Motion Picture- Drama). We'd be hard-pressed to find a more-deserving nominee than Natalie Portman (Best Actress in a Motion Picture-Drama) who pulled off an emotionally and physically demanding role. Her co-star (and real-life pal) Mila Kunis might even dance her way to the Golden Globes stage for Best Performance By An Actress In A Supporting Role In A Motion Picture, which we'd be completely psyched for.

We also agreed with the HFPA's decision to nominate some of our other 2010 faves, like "Inception," "Toy Story 3," "Despicable Me" and "Tangled."

Of course, those weren't the only noms we were excited to see. Much like Natalie, James Franco stunned us with is physically and emotionally exhausting work in "127 Hours" so we couldn't be happier he's in the Best Actor drama category. He'll be going against Ryan Gosling (hey girl, he got a nomination for his amazing work in the harrowing drama "Blue Valentine"!). Oh, but who to root for?! Jesse or James or Ryan? We don't know if we've ever been more torn.

Despite the fact that their chances are as good as the others in their categories, we still can't wait to see "Love and Other Drugs" nominees Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal (hmm, we wonder who his date will be?...) walk the red carpet. Same goes for double nominee Johnny Depp, who is competing against himself in the Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture-Comedy or Musical for "Alice in Wonderland" and "The Tourist."

We were so stoked to hear names like Michelle Williams ("Blue Valentine") Mark Wahlberg ("The Fighter") and Jeremy Renner ("The Town") get called, but nothing gave us greater joy than to hear Emma Stone got a Golden Globe nomination for her hilarious work in "Easy A." We always knew Emma was going to get love from the industry, but it's even sweeter considering it was for this star-making performance.

There were a few let-downs in the television categories (No love for "True Blood"? Or "Friday Night Lights"? Or Ian Somerhalder?), but it was a good day for Gleeks. "Glee" snagged more nominations than any other TV show (5!) including noms for stars Jane Lynch, Matthew Morrison, Chris Colfer (hooray!) and Lea Michele. We would have loved to see Kevin McHale sneak in there with Chris, but we're still glad they didn't think "Glee" hit a sophomore slump. In fact, quite the opposite, as the show will also try to win for Best Television Series-Comedy or Musical for the second year in a row.

In other words, January 16th can't get here soon enough!

What Golden Globe nominations are you so excited about? Tell us in the comments and on Twitter!
