Mothers often swear they don't have a favorite child (we know it's us—don't deny it), but writers rarely share that equal-opportunity sentiment. We do have favorite stories. Whether it's the subject matter, a playful turn of phrase or interesting angle that makes a piece great, we sometimes just can't help but love one story more than the hundred others.

As 2010 comes to a close, Hollywood Crush staffers took a trip through the archives, each picking the favorite story they wrote this year. We had a lot to choose from, but here before you, is what we consider the best of the best. We hope you enjoy reliving the year through our stories as much as we did.
+'The Vampire Diaries' Season 2 Premieres Tonight! Catch Up With Our Season 1 Guide!
Though my post about MTV's flipbook of stars like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift as "Jersey Shore" cast members was the funniest to write—almost a year later the photos are still hilarious—my favorite story was my wrap-up of "The Vampire Diaries" season 1. It was a lot of work since I had to dig through my recaps from the past year to remember everything, but it was a great way to brush up on the first season and prepare for the new one (which ROCKS, by the way). If you're feeling especially nostalgic, check out my post-finale interview with Malese Jow. I still miss Anna. —Jean Bentley
+Nicole Richie And Joel Madden Tie The Knot (With An Elephant)!
I love this post—not because I have any sort of personal investment in the marriage of Joel Madden and Nicole Richie, but because the writeup about their nuptials contains both a "Dancing on the Ceiling" reference AND a joke about elephant poop. Win! —Kat Rosenfield
+'Vampire Diaries' Recap: The Thanksgiving Episode That Wasn't
Writing a fictional Thanksgiving "TVD" episode was thoroughly enjoyable for two main reasons. One: I was able to throw in a "Harry Potter" reference, sparing me from the wrath of "Vampire Diaries" fans who hate the "Twilight" parallels I usually notice. Two: Executive producer Julie Plec read the post and tweeted about it! —Jyll Saskin
+MULTIPLE CHOICE: It's Columbus Day! Which Chris Columbus Movie Is Your Favorite?
I'm a sucker for quizzes (the fun ones, mind you), so I was psyched when we added Multiple Choice to Hollywood Crush this year. I had a blast writing all of the ones I did, but I was especially fond of asking you guys which Chris Columbus movie was your all-time favorite (on Columbus Day! Har dee har!) as I'll take any excuse to talk about "Home Alone" and "Mrs. Doubtfire." —Aly Semigran
+So Long 2009! Here Are The Top 10 Movies And TV Shows We're Most Looking Forward To In 2010
This one's a throwback: My favorite article of 2010 actually ran on New Year's Day last year, when I listed the top 10 movie and television-related debuts Hollywood Crush was most excited for in the coming year. I put the grand opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Orlando as the No. 1 item, and the placement caught Universal's eye. I was invited to an early viewing of the park, and MTV came down to the grand opening celebrations (which I got to attend), both of which were two of the coolest things I have ever done in my entire life! Got to love that "Harry Potter." —Terri Schwartz
+Hey Girl, Ryan Gosling Knows All About F--- Yeah! Ryan Gosling
Sometimes dreams really do come true. Though I didn't get to interview him myself (darn you, Josh Horowitz!), when my MTV News colleague sat down to chat with dreamboat Ryan Gosling and talk turned to my favoritest internet meme ever—F--ck Yeah! Ryan Gosling—I nearly melted. When Ryan broke into a fit of giggles reciting the silly "Hey Girl" come-ons, well, let's just say it's good a few of my office mates know CPR. —Amy Wilkinson
