Let's be real: Kim Kardashian is best known for her, um, assets of the physical variety—assets she shows off to great effect as the cover girl for February's Glamour magazine, where she appears wearing Tom Ford pajamas, a La Perla bra and a kittenish expression. But inside, the reality TV star shows that her boobs and backside aren't the only things going for her. In an interview with news veteran Katie Couric, Kim not only dishes about finding fame, getting confident and living in front of a camera, but also shows some surprising smarts and self-awareness when it comes to dealing with a life in the public eye.
Kim has been a household name for years now, as the popular star of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." But while many people would balk at the idea of a family life without privacy, Kim said that working with sisters Kourtney and Khloe has been a blessing.
"We work really hard, and we fight like normal sisters fight, and we make up," she explained. "We're so supportive of each other. We always stick together. Having lots of siblings is like having built-in best friends."
Kim is also arguably the most famous Kardashian family member, a fact that has sometimes resulted in drama, bitterness, and accusations of spotlight-hogging. But when asked about her high-visibility lifestyle, her answer is frank.
"I'd be foolish not to take some of these opportunities that are coming my way. We all know this can go away at any moment."
That seize-the-moment approach to life has gotten Kim some serious exposure as a spokesmodel, "Dancing With the Stars" contestant and overall tabloid darling—as well as a different kind of exposure in the pages of Playboy, where she famously bared all for a photo shoot in 2007. Three years later, though, she says it's a decision she doesn't regret one bit.

"It was an independence thing for me. I was always by the book, such the straight arrow when it came to pleasing my parents and being a good daughter. I felt like this was one decision that only I could make. And I think it looks great. I'll have those pictures forever."
Those pictures also lent Kim her current status as an international sex symbol, something she described as "definitely powerful." But, she added, "I don't find myself as sexy as everyone thinks. I'm a lot more insecure than people would assume, but with little stupid things. When I get dressed, I'm always so indecisive."
But don't be fooled; Kim has plenty of good sense and business savvy. And when it comes to criticisms over her family's in-the-spotlight lifestyle, she brings on the logic, explaining that, really, the Kardashian clan is just letting the system work for them: "If there's something that we're going through, it's going to get out anyway. It'll be on the cover of a tabloid, and it'll be twisted the completely wrong way. So why not tell our story?"
