What's a girl to do when faced with the prospect of posing in nothing more than strategically placed swathes of body paint? Phone a friend! When "Gossip Girl" star Jessica Szohr signed on as the newest face of SoBe Lifewater—a job that meant being photographed in a scaly, painted-on lizard "skinsuit"—the actress turned to friend Ashley Greene for advice. After all, just a year ago, the "Twilight" actress was SoBe's first skinsuit model, shooting nearly naked images in the tropical paradise of Turks and Caicos. What words of wisdom did Ashley have for bestie Jessica? Sleep!
"She warned me that it takes a very long time, and it was 11 hours," Jessica said of the body-painting process. "[Ashley] goes, 'Don't worry. When you lay down you can take naps and all that.' And I certainly did.'"
If Jessica had any fears as to how the paint job would turn out, her worries were allayed when she saw the finished product. "The way they did it, they did it so tastefully and it was beautifully done. I couldn't wait to get up and look in the mirror. When I did, I was like, 'I actually look like I have a suit on. This is incredible!'"
As frightening as the process sounds, that wasn't even the most harrowing moment of Jessica's experience. The starlet recalled one moment during the shoot in Costa Rica when she thought she might get swept away.
"I was trying to get to the middle of the waterfall on a rock, and the stream was very heavy and going fast," she recalled. "I was on this board and they were taking me across, and I was so scared. And I'm like, if I fall of this, I'm all the way down and they're going to have to catch me at the bottom of this jungle. I made it over successfully but it was scary for a second. It was the scariest thing of the entire trip."
Thank goodness Jessica made it over without incident. Who knows how water soluble that paint is! Those jungle birds may have gotten an eyeful!
