While most films are getting a well-deserved pat on the back right about now, a few of our favorite cinematic vampires are being taken down a peg. The Razzie nominations were announced today, and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" tied with "The Last Airbender" for the most nominations at nine a piece.
Unsurprisingly (based on previous Razzie nominations), "Eclipse" was nominated for Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel, and the actors didn't get off the hook either. Kristen Stewart was nominated for Worst Actress, both Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner were nominated for Worst Actor (also getting nods for their other 2010 films), Jackson Rathbone got a Worst Supporting Actor nod for "The Last Airbender" and "Eclipse," and the entire cast was nominated as Worst Screen Couple/Worst Screen Ensemble.
Before you think this is a personal affront, the "Twilight" films have been nominated repeatedly in the past and typically get beat out by even worse films. In fact, despite "New Moon"'s four nominations last year, it didn't win a single award. Granted, the Razzie committee apparently really hated "Eclipse" this year, so it sounds like a toss up to us.
Don't worry, though, because plenty of other films got to show off their razzle dazzle as well. "Vampires Suck" was also nominated for Worst Picture and Worst Director, and we think that deserves the award much more than "Eclipse" (though maybe not so much as "Sex and the City 2" and "The Bounty Hunter"), and Crush favorites like Megan Fox, Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Alba and Miley Cyrus didn't get much love either. We have a feeling "The Last Airbender" will hedge out "Eclipse" in most of these categories but, well, we'll have to wait and see.
Do you think "Eclipse" deserved all these nominations for "worst"? Tell us in the comments and on Twitter!
