Rhys Wakefield is one Aussie we're crushing on these days. With a starring role in the latest 3D flick, "Sanctum," we're hoping that this cutie's Down Under fame can translate stateside, so we're helping him out and making him this week's Hump Day Hottie.
Check out the dreamy video of Rhys below, and then keep reading for more details about him!
Vital stats: The 22-year-old attended the McDonalds College of Performing Arts, where he studied acting and drama and even worked with the Opera Australia and the Australian Ballet and appeared in numerous Shakespeare festivals. This was all before he found fame on the small screen.
Where you might have already seen him: After smaller roles he finally landed the part of Lucas on the soap, "Home and Away." His storyline was deemed a bit racy for Aussie, but he received a Logie Nomination, nonetheless, for Best New Talent in 2006. He left the show in 2008 and later appeared in "Clearing the Air" and "Broken Hill."
Why you should take notice of him now: This week he stars in the thriller, "Sanctum." And, as it turns out, he was able to pull of the movie's tricky stunts quite easily.
"That was all me. There was a double for one stunt that I did which I wasn’t allowed to do," he shared. "We had dive doubles for some components because the nature of staying underwater that many hours wasn’t a good idea."
Next up, he's tapped for the short film, "Scent," and he's expressed interest in—wait for it—"The Hunger Games."
"Actually, I’ve just been thrown into this whole storm of 'The Hunger Games' which is so amazing. Those books are amazing. They are brilliant. I would love to play Peeta," he shared. "But, who knows. I love the books."
Until next week, when we choose another Hump Day Hottie, you can salute Rhys by gazing at the video above!
