Ah, young love. Full of lingering glances, innocence, sweetness, etc. There's nothing like having a crush and the warm fuzzy feelings that come along with a new love interest. Not, however, when you're one of Hollywood's most recognizable young actors and you show up to a press event with a very lovely up-and-coming young actress.
Such is the case with teen heartthrob Zac Efron and "I Am Number Four" and "Take Me Home Tonight" actress Teresa Palmer, who appeared together at a press reception that followed a screening of "Tonight" last week. Now whether they're dating, or thinking about dating, or just friends matters not when they chose to show-up at an event FILLED with reporters! To me they were just begging to be written about (which they were, on every gossip blog from here to heaven).
Anyway! In an effort to address the issue at hand, when I interviewed Teresa and co-star Topher Grace the following day about the film, I couldn't help but try and get her to explain her little outing with Zac.
My roundabout way of asking was to bring up the fact that the reception was for the cast and the reporters who had just screened the film. I asked Teresa if I somehow missed a cameo by Zac and that was the reason he was there.
"I think he just wanted to see the film," Teresa said hesitantly, with a little nervous laughter thrown in. "And now there's a storm on the Internet."
To which I basically said, "Duh, there is a storm on the internet. That room was full of reporters who love nothing more than a good bit of gossip!" I told both Teresa and Topher that it's a bummer Zac didn't actually have a cameo.
"Ha, ha," Teresa said, with more nervous laughter. "That would be funny."
Way to deflect, Palmer. But I'm not buying it. Especially because I know that Zac didn't attend the screening! He just came to the reception. I love them both, but come on, everyone knows you're supposed to "introduce" new romantic intrigue via paparazzi photos! Not at an actual PRESS event. Sheesh.
