Emma Watson knows a thing or two about big screen adaptations of beloved books. So it should come with great joy to the fans of Stephen Chbosky's 1999 coming-of-age novel "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" that the "Harry Potter" star has officially signed on to play love interest Sam in the upcoming film.
Emma confirmed the news today from her Twitter page when she posted, "Hi all, just wanted to tell you that for once a story in the papers is true! I'm filming Perks of Being a Wallflower this summer. Can't wait!x"
We can't wait either! The film version of this YA classic (which is being released by Summit Entertainment, home of the "Twilight" movies) has been a long time coming, and Emma has been in talks to play Sam for awhile (Logan Lerman has been reported to take on the role of the protagonist "Charlie"). Plus, if anyone can handle "Wallflower"'s tricky subject matter like drugs, sexuality and suicide, it's the lovely, dignified Ms. Watson.
As if that weren't enough to excite E-Wat's fans, JustJared is reporting that the actress is basically the "top contender" for the film treatment of Catherine Fisher's sci-fi/fantasy best-seller "Incarceron"!
If Emma (who has been on the casting shortlist with the likes of Blake Lively and Jennifer Lawrence for the coveted role of Claudia) does get the gig, she'll try to escape the Realm at the same time as Taylor Lautner (who is slated to play Finn!)
Emma is no stranger to playing heroic, bad-ass ladies, so if the "Incarceron" news turns out to be true, we might be finding ourselves asking, "Harry, who?" very soon. So we're curious, Crushers, which of Emma's potential upcoming adaptations are you most excited for, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" or "Incarceron"? Vote in our poll!
