It was a colorful weekend at New York Fashion Week, and we're continuing our Color Wheel feature by taking a look at the violet and yellow frocks that totally caught our eye.
Purple, periwinkle, orchid, mulberry and even hints of indigo were all spotted Friday during the second day of Fall Fashion Week.

(1. Maurice Leggett at Perry Ellis Fashion Show, 2. Jason Wu, 3. Rebecca Taylor, 4. Nautica, 5. Costello Tagliapietra)
Football player Maurice Legget, spotted in the front row of the Perry Ellis fashion show was quick to exemplify the masculine use of violet in a fashionably loud sweater.
Jason Wu tuned into the Avatar Na’vi look with a violet ensemble that also paid homage to the fall season utilizing a dainty leaf pattern.
Rebecca Taylor got frilly with it in this foggy purple, layered dress that makes this model appear taller as though it’s an optical illusion piece.
At the Nautica presentation, this model was spotted in a violet-magenta tease that made us pull a double take for both the sweater vest and the beanie on board this hunky man.
Costello Tagliapietra brings us some Indian flavor in two dresses that appear to be not only wardrobe, but perhaps paintings that popped out of a landscape sunset painting.

(6. Costello Tagliapietra, 7.-9. Venexiana, 10. Julia Allison's own dress)
Venexiana was the leader in the passionate presentation of purple, snagging three picks from us with the sexy cocktail dress, the fluffy monster cover jacket and a Disney princess gown that probably should win your vote today, though we aim to remain impartial here.
Last, but not least, journalist/commentator Julia Allison was spotted in this tight-fit number that could easily pass for business casual, while earning its wearer many free drinks during happy hour.
And...on to yellow! The sunshine color was everywhere at Saturday’s fashion shows. The spring-friendly color manifested flawlessly into the fall runways and got us all pumped up for what the groundhog tells us will be an early spring this year.

(1. Libertine, 2. Jennifer Cateron at Suno fashion show, 3. and 4. Toni Francesc, 5. Billy Reid)
There is something considerably abstract or Jackson Pollock-like about the rainbow piece featured on the Libertine runway, but the key ingredient to this apron-styled dress is the yellow.
Artist Jen Catron was spotted in a yellow toga/bubble-dress/pretty little number to compliment her red locks at the Suno fashion show.
Toni Francesc earned two spots with these glowing yellow dresses, one belonging on a red carpet, and the other belonging at the after party.
The Billy Reid-designed faded yellow vest stuck out in a collection that was otherwise filled with earth tones and navy blue.

(6. Charlotte Ronson, 7. Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, 8. Band of Outsiders, 9. Kimberly Ovitz, 10. Edun)
Charlotte Ronson wowed us with the yellow-gold belt-enclosed cardigan that would work perfectly in a sophisticated little coffee shop or a trendy hipster bar.
An ode to the '60s is what first comes to mind in this Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti light yellow combination of skirt, turtle neck and blazer.
Yellow and blue debuted their status as a happy couple in this Band of Outsiders sweater.
Kimberly Ovitz may have had Pittsburgh or bumble bees in mind when melding together this black and yellow geometrically flirty dress.
The border between gold and yellow on the color wheel is closely teased in Edun’s layered dress that reminds us of that scene in "The Sound of Music" when Maria makes clothes out of the curtains.
