Guys do dumb things to impress girls. It's a fact—check an encyclopedia. Thankfully for the preservation of our race, few of those crazy antics actually lead to bodily harm. But there are exceptions—like hurdling oneself down a hill while seated inside a large metal orb (that's gonna leave a few marks). Such is the case for "Take Me Home Tonight"'s Topher Grace, who takes a ride in the medieval-like torture chamber in the '80s-set rom-com out March 4.
A little background: Topher's character Matt Franklin is an aimless, recent college grad who returns home and takes a job at the local video store. While on shift, he runs into high school crush Tori (played by "I Am Number Four"'s Teresa Palmer) and to impress her, dreams up an alternate identity for himself that includes a high-powered banking job at Goldman Sachs. Tori invites him to an end-of-summer blow-out bash, but after a series of missteps, Matt is left deflated and on Tori's bad side. Hence, the ball.
In this EXCLUSIVE clip from "Take Me Home Tonight," Topher's Matt tries to explain his bold decision. "I don't know what I'm doing up here," he says. "I'm scared, and you know what? I have been so afraid of my life that I have missed my life. But I'm like all of you—we're all scared. I mean, come on. Admit it. We're all trying to be something we're not, but tonight, all of that changes. Tonight, I'm not afraid." And with that, he puts his fate in the hands of a big, metal ball.
