It took a grand total of 10 days for Blake Lively to shatter our dreams and confirm that she is in fact not starring as a young Carrie Bradshaw in Michael Patrick King's adaptation of "The Carrie Diaries."
The up-and-coming 23-year-old fashionista certainly seems to be following in SJP's style footsteps even if she won't be filling her shoes in front of the camera. But, as Blake said, she has some other exciting projects to look forward to instead.
In addition to representing the Oscar-nominated "The Town" at next Sunday's Academy Awards, Blake will also start doing press rounds for this summer's "Green Lantern." Yet, it's her upcoming role as Chloe's mom in "Hick" that has us scratching our heads!
"It's completely different [from 'Gossip Girl']. I play a mother of a 13-year-old, a southern woman who's also a meth addict. So it's pretty different," she said.
Last we heard it had been Kirsten Dunst who was in talks to play Chloe's young mother, but it seems like Blake has since nabbed the role. The film is written and will be directed by indie filmmaker Derick Martini, and will follow Chloe as a pistol-packing 13-year-old Nebraska girl who runs away to Las Vegas and ends up helping a cocaine-snorting grifter with a robbery. It definitely sounds like a change of pace for both the young stars.
Are you disappointed Blake won't be starring in "The Carrie Diaries"? What do you think of her involvement in "Hick"? Do you think she's old enough to play the mother of a 13-year-old?
