Remember that time James Franco dressed in drag as Marilyn Monroe? Or when Kirk Douglas totally (adorably) took over the Kodak Theatre stage? Or how about Melissa Leo's accidental F-bomb during her acceptance speech (ear muffs, kids!)? Say what you will about the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, but it certainly boasted its fair share of memorable moments. Though we still have plenty of red carpet interviews to roll out over the next week (meaning the Oscars aren't quite over yet), let's look back at the night that was.
We started our ceremony coverage with a splendid two-hour red carpet live stream hosted by MTV News' Josh Horowitz. In addition to being licked by Russell Brand (seriously, it happened), Josh got plenty of stars to spill scoops, including "True Grit" actress Hailee Steinfeld, who told us she'd met with "Hunger Games" producer Gary Ross; Amy Adams, who dished about working with Kristen Stewart during "On the Road" production and Mila Kunis, who told us all about her stunning lavender Elie Saab (she almost didn't wear it in favor of another dress!).
Speaking of dresses, we had lots to say about the night's best dressed scene-stealers. In addition to Mila, we gave kudos to several starlets including her "Black Swan" co-star (and eventual winner) Natalie Portman, "Winter's Bone" actress Jennifer Lawrence, Hailee and host Anne Hathaway. (We even gawked at the guys for a while too!)
Once the ceremony started, we hunkered down for the nearly four-hour telecast. While our favorite "Twilight" stars didn't make the big night (though numerous reports indicate that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were indeed in L.A.), we once again got to drool over Taylor Lautner's abs thanks to a "Twilight" auto-tune clip. Much like that mash-up, reactions to the Anne-James hosting duo were mixed, and we took some time to compare them to past hosts.
Our night didn't end, however, once the curtain was drawn on the ceremony. In fact, it was just starting with a slew of post-Oscars fetes we just had to attend (sometimes our job is so tough). Most notably, while at the Vanity Fair afterparty we spotted cutie pies Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez getting majorly cozy. Adorbs. Also spied out and about? Taylor Swift, Emma Stone, Joe Jonas and so many more!
