While actress Amanda Seyfried doesn't think—or want moviegoers to think, for that matter—that her new movie, "Red Riding Hood" is just a new variation of "Twilight," there's one aspect of the saga she's happy to be associated with: director Catherine Hardwicke.
MTV News sat down with Amanda to discuss "Red Riding Hood," and when we got to the topic of why she chose to sign on to the project, it turns out one of the biggest reasons was Catherine.
"When I found out Catherine Hardwicke was directing it I thought, 'She's got this incredible, youthful imagination'," Amanda said, adding, "Who better to direct than Catherine?"
In fact, after Catherine showed her some sketches of what "Red Riding Hood" would look like (which, in the final product, resulted in a very fairy tail-esque world with both touches of color and gothic inspiration), Amanda was sold.
"She showed me all these drawings and I was just blown away and it drew me in very quickly," the 25-year-old star explained.
But it wasn't just Catherine's vision that drew Amanda into the updated take on the classic fairytale, it was none other than....Leonardo DiCaprio?!
Turns out, Leo's production company Apian Way got a hold of "Red Riding Hood," and the Oscar-nominated actor was on board as one of the film's producers.
"I think that was another appealing piece of the puzzle for me," Amanda told us about Leo's involvement in the film. "He's very picky about what he wants to do, so if he's going to produce it then it must be something that he thinks is going to be great."
But there was yet another added bonus to having Leo as a producer: "He was on set a bunch of times," she said.
Hmm...on-set visits from Leonardo DiCaprio, the original "Twilight" director and yummy co-stars like Shiloh Fernandez and Max Irons? We're starting to think we didn't even need to ask why she said yes to "Red Riding Hood"!
Are you more interested in seeing "Red Riding Hood" knowing Leonardo DiCaprio is involved?
