In case you missed it, there was some big news in the Twitterverse yesterday as "Vampire Diaries" favorite Paul Wesley finally joined his cast mates on the social networking site. Yes, that's right, NTP (a.k.a. No-Twitter-Paul as brilliantly coined by show writer Julie Plec) is on Twitter, and he's got four tweets (to date), a trending topic in his honor and more than 55,000 followers to show for it! Not bad for a newbie, huh?
While Paul is undoubtedly off to a great start, he's definitely got a lot to live up to. After all, the "Vampire Diaries" team, including the likes of Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev, are pretty much pros at the platform. To give Paul a heads up on what kinds of missives he needs to write to join the ranks of "TVD"'s Twitter stars, we've compiled a list of our top five favorite tweets from the cast. Check them out after the jump and then share your favorites with us!
5. We're usually not fans of TMI, but in this case we were totally willing to make an exception. I mean, who wouldn't? Although next time Matt (who tweets with the handle @ernestoriley), we're gonna need some photographic evidence.

4. We love pranks, especially when Nina is the prankster and Matt (who has some epic reactions) is the one getting played. Bonus points for letting us in on this joke.

3. What are Candice Accola and Michael Trevino doing when they're not shooting crazy intense full moon scenes? Playing Scrabble obviously! Behind-the-scenes tweets are always a special treat for fans, and Candice is a pro at them. We especially loved her Scrabble squabble with Michael over whether sox was the plural of socks.

2. What don't we love about this tweet? Ian gave a boost to the "TVD" fandom with a (friendly) "Twilight" smack-down (here's what inspired it), while also giving Delana fans something to get excited about. Oh, and did we mention that we love it when he and Nina message each other? Even with only 140-characters to work with those two manage to exude chemistry.

1. How do you get to the top of our "TVD" Twitter rankings? Spill a spoiler or two that sets the fandom abuzz. Ian managed to do just that recently when he tweeted a picture with a mystery woman (who we now know as Dawn Olivieri) he described as "Damon's girlfriend."

So there you have it Paul (or should we say @paulwesley), you can win our Twitter hearts by following the examples of the cast mates listed above. Tweet pictures, post some spoilers, give us a backstage pass to "TVD" and you'll be at the top of our list in no time!
What are your favorite "TVD" cast tweets? Are you following Paul on Twitter? Tell us in the comments and on Twitter, naturally.
