Phone home, guys! Only one more day until Katy Perry debuts her highly anticipated "E.T." music video on MTV. In the meantime, we're looking back at Katy's past music video fun to hold us over until the premiere. We already revisited her ever-changing hairstyles and fashion, so today we thought we'd look back at some of her previous music video concepts.
In 2008's "Hot N Cold," Katy waits at the alter for her impending nuptials to a fine-looking fiance. But said fiance gets cold feet, thanks to his bi-polar ways and chooses to run away during the middle of the ceremony. So what does our bride-to-be do? She chases him, naturally, and lets him know how destructive his indecisive personality is. Strangely enough, at the end of the video they go through with the wedding. Probably not the best decision to marry a "hot n cold" guy, but we'll forgive Katy because this video is just so much fun.
Katy put her money where her mouth is with the video for "Waking Up In Vegas." The video shows Katy and her man enjoying the lavish lifestyle (and costumes!) that Las Vegas has to offer. But in the end, their luck changes. They get kicked out of their hotel and lose all their winnings except a single coin. Which they play the morning after in a laundromat and win the jackpot. This over-the-top video fit perfectly with the theme of the song. And bonus points for the Penn and Teller cameos!
Rather than head to the beach for "California Gurls," Katy chose to pay homage to sweet treats. Katy played a game piece in the Candy Land-like game "Candyfornia." She traveled through the edible world reminding us why gurls from California are unforgettable. And then she debuted her whipped-cream shooting bra, reminding us that Katy herself is truly unforgettable.
After the wild "California Gurls," Katy showed a more vulnerable side with the video for "Teenage Dream." Filmed in her hometown of Santa Barbara, Calif., Katy is seen partying, kissing and having an all-around good time with her sexy boyfriend—her teenage dream, presumably. (And mine too! He's cute!) This feel-good video definitely fit the feel of the song, but showed a much softer side compared to some of Katy's previously high-concept videos.
We can only assume Katy will go above and beyond with the out-of-this-world concept for "E.T." (which features music icon Kanye West).
