It's clear there are two types of "Vampire Diaries" fans: Those who want to see Elena end up with stable, lovable boyfriend Stefan, and those who want to see her with his bad-boy brother Damon. And after last week's surprising season finale, it looks like Delena shippers might just get their wish.
When we sat down with star Nina Dobrev a few weeks ago, we asked you, our loyal Hollywood Crush readers for your best burning questions. In light of recent events, one seemed particularly timely: What qualities does Damon bring out of Elena and what qualities does Stefan bring out of Elena?
"Damon brings a lot of worry out of Elena," Nina said. "Damon shows up and she just tenses up because something is going to happen. It's like a countdown to 30 seconds and someone is going to die. With Stefan, whenever he's around she's just—it's almost like she melts into his arms and she feels somewhat relieved. But at the same time when you think about it, whenever the two of them are around, that means there's a little bit of trouble."
Truer words have never been spoken, Miss Dobrev. At this point, though, I just had to ask why she thinks so many fans are gung ho for Elena and Damon to be together after all of their friction.
"Well, that's the whole point," she said. "[Executive producers] Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec did that brilliantly if you think about it at the end of the day. They've spoon fed them this tension and this friction because they know what the audience doesn't have is what they'll want most."
