If, at the end of every episode of "The Vampire Diaries," you find yourself thinking, "One hour a week is just not enough," there's at least a partial cure in the works. "The Secret Circle," based on the trilogy by "Vampire Diaries" scribe L.J. Smith, has received a series order from The CW, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
For the uninitiated, "Secret Circle" centers on a girl who moves to a new town and learns that she's A) a witch and B) kind of central to an epic good vs. evil battle. You know, no big.
"Life Unexpected"'s Britt Robertson will star in the series (and we're so happy to see her returning to The CW—we missed her sass after "Life's" unexpected demise) and much of the production team behind "The Vampire Diaries" will be working on the series (including co-creator Kevin Williamson). Considering what a great job Kevin has done with "TVD," we could not be more excited to hear that he's the driving force behind "Secret Circle." Does this mean witches are the new vampires? Do werewolves have some supernatural competition for that title now?
In addition to bringing another L.J. Smith series to the screen (which we can't stop squee-ing about inside...and okay, a little on the outside), The CW is bringing back another of our favorites: Rachel Bilson is returning to prime time in the new series "Hart of Dixie." "Hart" comes from the creators of "Gossip Girl" and Rachel's old stomping ground "The OC," but don't expect their usual frills and fashion. This time Rachel plays a New York doctor who inherits a practice in a kind-of-cooky Southern town. Sounds like she'll be more of a "Gilmore" than "Gossip" girl this time around.
Which new show are you most excited about? Will "The Secret Circle" be as good as "The Vampire Diaries?"
