Listen. Do you hear that? That silence is the sound of every "Hunger Games" fan who questioned the casting of Jennifer Lawrence eating their words. When the Entertainment Weekly cover featuring Jennifer in full-on Games mode was released yesterday, supporters everywhere were allowed a triumphant, "I told you so!" And it was a well-deserved moment of adulation because, frankly, girl looked good. So good, in fact, that "Hunger Games" Examiner Sara Gundell said that any concerns fans had about Jennifer have been "laid to rest."
Gone were Jennifer's trademark blond locks and pale complexion—all it took was a little hair dye and makeup to quiet the naysayers. Oh, and a bow and arrow...and forest backdrop...and, of course, a Mockingjay pin. Okay, so it might sound like a lot, but it was those details—the whole Katniss package—that really impressed many fans.
"Personally, I loved it," The Hob's Amanda Belcher said. "Not only was it a really good representation of Jennifer as Katniss, but I love the attention to detail that both Lionsgate and EW put into it. I mean she had the hair, the makeup, the clothes, the Mockingjay pin, the bow and arrow, the scenery. I think it was a really good first visual."
But don't think Jen is only capable of modeling as Katniss—the girl has reportedly been busting her butt learning archery for the role. Now that we know she's set to have both the looks and the moves for the role, how could anyone question her Katniss? "Hunger Games" experts don't think many will (and we don't either!).
"A lot of fans are changing, their reactions are changing because they realize, now that they see her with her dark hair, they’re like, 'Okay, she can look like Katniss and she can do it,'" Arianna Ruiz of Down With the Capitol said. "And her acting ability is amazing, so we know she’s going to be able to do this beautifully."
We couldn't agree more—the odds are totally in her favor!
