After a lot of speculation and even more anticipation, The CW has finally released a trailer and promo clips for Kevin Williamson's new project "The Secret Circle," and we could not be MORE excited.
While the trailer for the series, which will center around a secret coven of witches, doesn't give away too much about the plot, it provides some insight into the look and feel of the show. For one, we see a whole lot of fire shots (like A LOT) and some magical (literally) scenes between Britt Robertson and dreamy co-star Thomas Dekker. The trailer also establishes that there will be forces of good and evil and provides quick looks at each of the main players in action.
The two clips, on the other hand, give us a lot more information. In the first clip, "Done," Cassie (Britt) enters an eerie-looking room where a group of witches and warlocks (or so we assume) tell her she's a witch. In the second clip, Cassie and Adam (Thomas), channel each others' energies to make a drop of water float (hmm...what does that remind you of?!).
While there aren't any vampires or werewolves running around (at least not yet!), we couldn't help but notice the similarities between "The Secret Circle" and "Vampire Diaries." The magic, for instance, is pretty low-key. In the "Water" clip, Cassie and Adam simply hold hands and say a spell in hushed voices just like we've seen Bonnie (Katerina Graham) do countless times. Some of the shots from the trailer, like the ones where people are huddled in the woods with fire nearby, were also reminiscent of various "TVD" clips. Now, we know it's not fair to compare the series quite yet (after all "Secret Circle" is NOT "TVD: Part 2"), but as far as we're concerned any similarities with "TVD" are a good thing. After all, it is kind of the best show around.
Anyway, as if all this weren't exciting enough for one day, The CW also just announced that "The Secret Circle" will follow "Vampire Diaries" on Thursday nights. Really, does it get any better than that?
