From winners and losers to surprise cameos and awesome performances, there were plenty of things to talk about after last night's Billboard Music Awards, and yet the moment that seems to have caused the biggest stir is the kiss between Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. Justin kissed GF Selena right after his win for Best New Artist, and while the kiss lasted approximately three seconds (we're being generous here), it was enough to set the entire internet abuzz.
This wasn't the first time an awards-show pucker has sparked headlines. In fact, throughout the years there have been plenty of memorable lip-locks that set the trail for Sel and the Biebs. Check out our list of the five most memorable awards show smooches after the jump!
1. Madonna, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera
When Madonna joined forces with Britney and Christina at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards we knew we were in for something big, and the ladies certainly didn't disappoint. Toward the end of their performance, Madge proved she's still got it by planting quick kisses on both Brit and Xtina.
2. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams
We really didn't think it'd ever be possible to top the rain-soaked kiss from "The Notebook," but the movie's stars, Ryan and Rachel, proved us wrong with an embrace made for the history books. Set against Maroon 5's "She Will Be Loved," the two actors hit the stage running (literally) after winning Best Kiss at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, and re-created the moment that got them there, while the entire audience (including a giggling Lindsay Lohan) watched in awe.
3. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart
While Justin and Selena have been somewhat public about their relationship, Rob and Kristen have kept theirs strictly out of the public eye, which only intensified their will-they-won't-they moment at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards when they won for—what else?—Best Kiss. The duo teased the audience until Rob finally planted a big fat smooch...we think. The angle made it hard to tell for certain.
4. Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley
After facing a ton of speculation about the legitimacy of their marriage, Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie decided a public lip-lock at the 1994 MTV VMAs would be the best way to quiet the doubters. Unfortunately, it might have just intensified their skepticism.
5. Adrien Brody and Halle Berry
We weren't the only ones completely floored when Adrien unexpectedly embraced Halle at the 2003 Academy Awards, planting a big wet one on her in celebration of his Best Actor win for "The Pianist"—the starlet was just as dumbfounded as we were.
