All together now: And may the odds be ever in your favor! If you've been dying to know who will utter that famous phrase as arena announcer Claudius Templesmith in "The Hunger Games," wonder no more. Toby Jones, whom you may know as the voice of Dobby in the "Harry Potter" series or as Truman Capote in "Infamous" (whichever way your film-viewing proclivities lean), has just been added to the ever-growing cast according to Lionsgate's official Twitter.
Now, Toby isn't the first actor I'd think of to fill the role of a bombastic, booming announcer. After all, he so perfected Truman Capote's nasal timbre that I wouldn't be surprised if he spoke like that on the daily. However, this YouTube video, in which Toby discusses modifying his speech and body language to embody the "In Cold Blood" author (and, in which I should add, he speaks in a completely pleasant, "normal" voice) has me seeing the error of my pre-conceived ways.
Anyhoo! Toby is the second "Hunger Games" cast member announced in less than 24 hours. Late last night (at least for those of us on the East Coast), Lionsgate confirmed earlier rumors that rocker Lenny Kravitz would take on the role of Katniss' stylist, Cinna.
Really, any day now, President Snow. Any day.
What do you think about Toby Jones joining "The Hunger Games"?
