"The Mortal Instruments" has found its Jace Wayland, and Lily Collins could not be more pleased with the decision.
MTV News caught up with the "Abduction" star at last night's MTV Movie Awards, and she addressed last week's casting announcement that "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" star Jamie Campbell Bower would be joining the cast.
"I'm really excited. I think we literally, we found our Jace that day," she said of Jamie's audition. "I'm really, really excited, he's a really talented guy. He's very enthusiastic about the role too, which is really awesome. I ended up doing a read with him and a read with a couple other people, and the second we had the audition, I think everyone knew that he had that quality of Jace and he nailed it."
Lily might have ultimately found out online like the rest of us that Jamie was cast as her Jace, but author Cassandra Clare knew the second she saw Jamie's audition tape that he was her man. Hollywood Crush chatted with Cassandra last week after the announcement to get her take on our new Jace Wayland.
"His acting of the role is perfectly spot on," she told us of the audition footage producers sent her. "He auditioned with Lily, and he and Lily had incredible chemistry that sort of blazed off the screen… I'm watching the audition, and I literally started crying because that was my Jace and Clary on the screen."
Cassandra and Lily's stamps of approval is all the guarantee we need that he will be a perfect fit for the role.
"He was snarky funny where he needed to be snarky funny, and he was badass where he needed to be badass," Cassandra promised. "He and Lily were incredible together."
