If you weren't a fan of Stephen Chbosky's seminal work "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," you probably should be, considering it's likely to thank for bringing Emma Watson to the MTV Movie Awards.
You see, Emma's never appeared at the awards ceremony, mostly because her personal and professional life kept her in faraway London, but now that she's filming the novel's big-screen adaptation in Pittsburgh, the plane ride to L.A. is much more manageable.
When we caught up with the "Harry Potter" star after the show (where she debuted an exclusive "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" clip), we got an update on the highly anticipated, in-production project.
"We've been shooting for, like, two weeks now, and we have three weeks left," Emma told MTV News. "It's been great. I'm having the time of my life. I really am having a very, very good summer."
For the uninitiated, Emma plays Sam, the friend and love interest of Logan Lerman's character—the titular wallflower named Charlie. For Emma, it's an unexpected return to familiar territory. (Hermione had her own share of teen angst, amiright?)
"It's so funny because I never thought I'd make another sort of high school-esque movie," she said. "And here I am in this coming-of-age, American teen [movie], but it's very witty, and it's very funny and it's very moving. I'm very, very excited."
We are too, Emma!
The film, which also stars "Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev, is slated for a 2012 release.
